Athi Varadar Darshan – Kanchipuram – Once in 40 years in Life time.

Athi Varadar Darshan – Kanchipuram – Once in 40 years in Life time.

Sri Varadharaja Temple in Kanchipuram is one of the 108 Divya Desams.  The Divya Desams are very important temples of  Lord Vishnu.  The Vaishnava Azhwars have visited this temple and praised the Lord with Poems.

The Moolavar ( principal Deity) is known as Athiyuran meaning the deity is made of Athi Maram, (the Fig Tree).

This deity was damaged during the Muslim Invasion and hence removed from the temple and immersed in the Temple Tank called Aanantha Saras Theertham.   The Lord is raised from the Tank once in 40 years for the worship of the general public. This ceremony is named as ” Athivaradar Vybhavam”

Athivaradar Vibhavam is scheduled to be celebrated 48 days  from 1st July 2019 to 17th of August 2019.

The time for worship is from 6.00 A.M. to 2 P.M. and from 3.00 P.M. to 8.00 P.M.  Lakhs and lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the temple during the days.  Since all hotels and lodges are already reserved devotees are requested to use Subhiksha Hotels – Green Castle Resort for their accommodation requirements.  This Resort is located just 25 kms. away from the Temple.

Subhiksha Hotels – Green Castle Resort :

The Tamil Nadu Government has made elaborate arrangements for the safety of the devotees.
